The Sunday Times put together a list of the best pubs in Ireland 'for a proper pint' - and the famous Conway's Bar in Ramelton made the cut

A Ramelton pub has been selected among the best ‘old man pubs’ around Ireland.

Conway’s Bar was included in a list of ten compiled by The Sunday Times.

Ramelton native and PR guru Cathy Cowan made the recommendation for Conway’s.

Restored around 12 years ago, Conway’s pitched thatched roof gives the premises - which dates back to the 1800s - a distinctive feeling.

"There are two open fires and it's full of cosy corners,” Cowan wrote.

“You'll always meet someone to chat to. A photo wall in the hallway called Conway's Characters features locals and customers past and present.

“There are no fancy gins here; they support some of the local breweries and there are always lots of pints of Guinness, of course.

“Don't miss the bluegrass music every Wednesday - it's great."
