Mum-of-three given six months to sort €625 in unpaid fines

A woman who failed to pay fines that backdate as far as 2017, has been given six months to do so

Mary Byrne appeared before Judge Eiteain Cunningham at Letterkenny District Court after a fines warrant was issued for her.

The court was told the fines go back as far as 2017.

Judge Cunningham asked the court if community service was an option in the case.

Ms Byrne, of Beechwood Grove in Lifford, said she didn't need community service as she had three children but needed six months to pay the fines.

Judge Cunningham adjourned the case until November 4 to allow the fines to be paid.

Ms Byrne's solicitor Donough Cleary was granted legal aid.
