Donegal features two top-seven entrants in St Patrick’s Day spots in Ireland

The Slieve League cliffs and Silver Strand beach have made the top 7 of the ‘Top 12 romantic spots in Ireland for St Patrick’s Day’ - coming in at third and seventh place respectively. 

Betfair Casino has generated a list of the top-rated romantic spots in Ireland, with Dingle Peninsula in Kerry scoring as the top destination.

Two of Ireland’s must-see destinations, Killarney National Park and Giant's Causeway, followed behind in joint second place.

Situated in third place were the highest accessible sea cliffs of Europe, the Slieve League Cliffs - which are three times the height of the Cliffs of Moher - and where you are guaranteed to feel as though you’re on the edge of the world.

The popularity of each destination was measured by a unique index score, based on the number of hashtags and views each location has racked up on Instagram, as well as Trip Advisor rankings - with the lower the overall index score the higher the ranking.

Silver Strand - the hidden gem of the Donegal Coastline - followed in seventh place, with it being a must-see destination for anyone in the area. Its breathtaking, yet secluded beaches boast some of the most unique natural beauty in Ireland, and you can’t go wrong with a leisurely walk along its pristine golden sands. It is one of Donegal’s beautiful off-the-beaten-path beaches is said to be perfect for romantic walks at sunset.
