The People’s Document was launched at a public meeting on March 4
The 100% Redress Party has officially endorsed a plan by a coalition of defective concrete blocks campaign groups to deliver 100% redress.
Called the People’s Document, the initiative was launched at a public meeting on March 4 and has been sent to all Oireachtas members and county councillors in Donegal.
Campaigners Paddy Diver, Lisa Doherty Hela (100% Redress No Less), Lisa Hone, Tricia Doherty (Mica Action Group), Roisin Gallagher (Redress Focus Groups) and Michael Doherty have compiled the document which calls for like-for-like rebuilds at no cost to the homeowner, an end to end State scheme with self-build opt-out available, proper and timely supports for those affected and actions to prevent a repeat of the crisis.
Politicians have been invited to address the issues raised in the document at a public meeting on Tuesday, March 26 in at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel, Buncrana at 7pm.
A special meeting of the executive committee of the 100% Redress Party, which has announced it is running three candidates in the local elections in Donegal, endorsed the document.
Chair of 100% Redress, Tomas Sean Devine, welcomed the initiative which he said “will hopefully, move us closer to securing a genuine 100% redress scheme for all those affected by defective concrete”.
“I am delighted to confirm that the Committee unanimously voted to endorse The People’s Document. However, we would like to see all properties in Northern Ireland, built with defective concrete products purchased in Ireland, included within the definition of a true 100% redress, and not just those property owners who are paying tax in the State.”
