Two new community first-responder groups have been set up to cover the Inishowen Peninsula.
The Muff Community Responder Group and the Clonmany Community Cardiac First Responder Group will now join The Newtowncunningham Community First Responders and the Buncrana First Response team to attend calls before the ambulance arrives.
The aim of first responder groups is to provide prompt medical care in life-threatening emergencies through the use of Defibrillation and CPR.
The newly established groups, in Muff and Clonmany, will host a public meeting in the interest of establishing the first responder groups.
The Clonmany group will host a meeting in the Community Hall on Wednesday, April 17 at 8pm. First responders in Muff are holding a public meeting on April 24 in The Tree House at 8pm.
Guest speakers such as Roddy Smith of Newtoncunningham First Responders, Fiona Cullen of Buncrana First Responders and The National Ambulance Service will be in attendance to name a few.
“The good news just keeps on coming,” Jade from the Buncrana First Responders said. “We are absolutely delighted to see Muff Community First Responder Group in the process of getting their own group set up.
“That is a whole lot of Inishowen covered, especially with Clonmany in the start-up stage. Everyone is welcome and no medical background or experience is necessary as the full required training will be given.”
