Members of the public asked if you cross a solid white line to overtake a bike and An Garda Síochána have issued the following advice.
As per the Rules of the Road when there are single or double continuous white lines along the centre of the road, all traffic must keep to the left of the line except in an emergency or for access, a Garda spokesperson said.
It is best to wait until it is safe to overtake and until road markings permit you to do so. Never put a cyclist at risk and know your duty to be aware of them. They are especially vulnerable if there is a crash.
