Scoil Eoin Pól and St Eunan’s National School Raphoe have received confirmation that their school will receive an additional needs classroom.

The classrooms will commence in September 2024 and will be suitable for pupils with Autism and additional needs

“I am pleased to learn that Scoil Eoin Pól Loch an Iúir and St Eunan’s National School Raphoe has been given the go-ahead for the opening of a special classroom for pupils with additional needs attending their school,” Joe McHugh TD (FG) said.

“This is very welcome news for the children who will benefit, for their families and the school community. I wish to acknowledge the SENO (Special Educational Needs Organiser) and Mandy McGarvey, NCSE, for working with the team at Scoil Eoin Pól and St Eunan’s National School Raphoe in ensuring they secured this important facility at the school.

“I wish to commend the dedication and commitment to this project at Scoil Eoin Pól by Principal Mairead Nic Suibhne, her school team and the Board of Management, for their support in ensuring this application was successful.

"This is very welcome news for the children who will benefit from this additional facility, for their families and the entire school community. I met with Principal Anita Keeve of St Eunan’s National School Raphoe, along with Fr Kelly and members of the Board of Management and Parents Association in Raphoe several months ago, and this application for a Special Classroom was discussed as the school’s major priority.

“The school team have been working hard on this, putting measures in place to facilitate children with additional needs. Their main aim has been that children with additional needs could attend St Eunan’s, in their area, and then naturally progress to Secondary School in their town, and I am delighted that this can now be a reality.

“I wish to commend the hard work and commitment to this project at St Eunan’s by Principal Anita Keeve, her school team and the Board of Management, for their ongoing dedication to ensuring this application was successfully granted."
