Leah McDaid set to represent the Gaeltacht at The Mary From Dungloe

Leah McDaid has been selected as the Gaeltacht Mary for The Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival.

The selection was held at An Chuirt Hotel, Gweedore, where Leah was presented with her sash. 

“Congratulations to Máire na Gaeltachta 2024, Leah Ní Dháibhéid,” Mary from Dungloe International Arts Festival shared. “A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at An Chuirt Hotel, Gweedore, for hosting such a lovely evening. Special gratitude to Gráinne from BSG An Clochán Liath and Pleanáil Teanga na Rosann for sponsoring our 2024 Gaeltacht Mary.” 

The selections for the 2024 Marys are still ongoing but as of now, Niamh Kerrigan has been chosen to represent Birmingham; Clare O’Donnell has been selected as the Donegal Mary; Áine McGee has been appointed for Dungloe; Leah McDaid will be representing the Gaeltacht: Mairead McEnroe has been selected for the Glasgow sash; Kyna Boyle has been chosen as the London Mary and Scarlett Catalfamo has been given the Philadelphia title for the 2024 Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival. 

The Mary From Dungloe competition is a celebration of Irish heritage, music, and culture. There has been a talented and diverse group of women selected to compete for the coveted title. Each contestant brings her own unique talents and strengths to the competition, from traditional Irish music to modern pop and rock. Beyond their musical abilities, these women are also leaders in their communities, dedicated to promoting Irish culture and supporting charitable causes. 

The 57th Mary From Dungloe will run from July 27 - August 5 and offers a programme packed full of events.
