Margarite Meehan has raised €4665.25 for Scoil Colmcille NS, Acres through participating in the Omagh Half Marathon.

The Burtonport-native set off to complete the 22km run on Sunday, April 7 for children with additional needs to get the assessments they require. Psychologist assessments are required for recommendations of the additional support a specific child requires eg., sensory help or different learning methods for example,  and anything that is required then is additional funds.

Schools are only granted one to two assessments per year and there is a difficulty  in supporting children with additional needs with the absence of a psychological assessment.

“We are thrilled to share that, following the deduction of GoFundMe charges, our super marathon mum, Margarite Meehan managed to raise a total of €4,665.25 in her recent half marathon fundraiser for our school,” Scoil Colmcille Acres shared.

“Again, on behalf of our entire school community, we would like to thank,  not only Margarite, but all those who contributed to this amazing fundraiser.

“This money will make a huge difference to the children and families in our school who may at times find themselves in need of some additional external support along the way.”

Margarite was set run the Omagh Half Marathon this year anyway, but once she discovered the need for funding at her local primary school, where  she was previously a student, and her children attend, she decided to dedicate all proceeds raised to get the children assessments.
