A new initiative has been launched at the Little Angels School, Letterkenny.
‘I Am Creative’ is a pilot initiative of the Government’s Department of Education which explores ways that teachers, artists, school leaders, and Special Needs Assistants can collaborate to enhance the provision of arts education in Special Education settings.
Within this initiative, two Artists in Residence, Julie Griffiths and Mrs Margaret Rowland will collaborate with the pupils and staff to support creative engagement in the special educational setting.
Throughout the residency, Julie and Margaret will employ and experiment with a wide variety of materials and methodologies to enhance the students’ creativity and self-expression.
Together they will facilitate the creation of a series of artworks which will be incorporated into the new school premises and will be enjoyed by all for many years to come.
The Principal and Staff of the Little Angels Special School said that they are honoured to be a part of the initiative, which was awarded to them by the Donegal Education Support Centre.
