Ruby Druce with Daniel O'Donnell and his wife Majella
Donegal's oldest citizen, Ruby Druce, got a surprise of a lifetime at the weekend – a visit from Daniel O'Donnell.
The 108-year-old Ruby joined Daniel for a rendition of 'The Homes of Donegal'.
Ruby celebrated her 108th birthday on New Year's Eve and recieves a phone call ever year on her birthday from Daniel.
Ruby is a Daniel fanatic and, on route to Relay for Life in Letterkenny, the Kincasslagh crooner dropped in.
Ruby has been longing to meet Daniel in person and, accompanied by his wife Majella, he made her dream come true.
Born on December 31, 1915, Ruby, a pioneer all her life, has survived the Spanish Flu in 1918 and the recent Covid-19 pandemic.
She worked in Porter's Shirt Factory for 48 years and now lives with her niece, Margo Butler, in Letterkenny.
