Memorial events organised honouring Private Seán Rooney

A series of memorial runs will take place at Camp 2-45 in Lebanon, honouring Private Seán Rooney. 

Private Rooney, who lived in Newtoncunningham, was killed while on a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, on December 14, 2022. The fundraising events are scheduled to take place on the 14th of every month and lead up to a significant event in November when Sean's life and contributions will be celebrated at a large ceremony.

“To honour our dear friend and colleague's memory and continue his legacy of compassion, we are organizing a series of memorial runs at Camp 2-45 in Lebanon, where Sean has served two tours,” the statement by his colleagues on GoFundMe read. 

All proceeds raised will be donated to Rainbows Ireland who provide support to children and young people who have experienced loss through bereavement or parental separation. You can donate to the GoFundMe here.
