Grainne Doherty, Kevin Bonner proprietor of Bonner's Shop, Pat Doherty, Jackson Doherty and Fiona Sweeney from the Meenacross Chapel Committee
The winner of the fundraising draw for the restoration of Meenacross Chapel has been announced.
Jackson Doherty was presented with the 2012 Donegal Jersey which Kevin Bonner generously donated from Bonner's shop on Lower Main Street, Dungloe. A total of €1478 was raised from the draw, “many thanks to everyone who sold and bought the tickets over two days in Supervalu and The Cope, Dungloe,” Meenacross Chapel Committee shared.
This fundraiser will go towards the costs of repairs and the upkeep of St Patrick’s Chapel in Meenacross. Built in 1932, the chapel has been the centre of Christian pastoral life for the people of Maghery and over time it has become a historical landmark in The Rosses. Now, 91 years later, the gable next to Traigheanna Bay is in a very bad state of repair and the decayed timber cladding urgently needs to be stripped off and replaced.
The community has embarked on a crucial restoration project and construction has already started. If you would like to donate to the fundraiser for St Patrick’s Chapel, Meenacross you can do so here.
