Two neighbourning sports clubs in St Johnston have joined forces to combat a spate of vandalism.

Kildrum Tigers FC and St Johnston Cricket Club have partnered to install CCTV and, in another joint venture, have also pooled resources to install a defibrillator.

Following acts of vandalism in recent weeks, the clubs decided to take preventative measures.

The home grounds of both clubs sit side-by-side on the banks of the River Foyle on Railway Road.

“The grounds are now under 24 hour surveillanc,” a spokesperson said. “Any further incidences of deliberate vandalism will be reported to the Gardai.”

The appropriate signage will also be displayed.

The clubs have also had a defibrillator installed. This vital piece of lifesaving equipment is located at the Kildrum Tigers FC clubhouse facing the St Johnston CC pavilion.

A spokesperson said: “As this is a life saving piece of equipment we are doing all that we can to make sure it does not get vandalised.”
