Man (50s) dies in diving incicent off Donegal coast

An emergency operation was launched by the Malin Head Coastguard just after 1pm on Monday and the man was airlifted to Letterkenny University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased

A man in his 50s has died after getting into difficulty while diving off the Donegal coast.

The man was diving on Monday when the tragic incident occurred off the North West Donegal coast.

An emergency operation was launched by the Malin Head Coast Guard just after 1pm. The man was airlifted by the 118 chopper to Letterkenny University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner’s Court,” a Garda spokesperson said.
