Death notices for Donegal on Monday evening

A woman in her eighties has died as a result of injuries sustained in a road traffic collision at Inver on Sunday. 

Elizabeth Cave, née Coburn, of St Ernan’s, Donegal Town passed away on Wednesday. She was one of three people injured in the collision which took place on the N56 at Inver Glebe shortly before 9am on Sunday. 

Mrs Cave was well known in the community for her gentle and pleasant demeanour, and there is much shock and sadness following the news of her death. 

A post on the Facebook page of the family business Cavern Design reads: “Our beloved mother, Elizabeth Cave, has passed away following injuries sustained in a tragic accident at Inver last Sunday. 

“Cavern Design Printing is closed now until next Monday.”

Mrs Cave is predeceased by her husband Stephen and brother John. She is survived by her children Sarah (Bob), Vera (Mike), Rachel (Tony) and Richard (Louise), her sisters Marion Burgess and Eleanor Hort and brother James Coburn, nieces and nephews and her extended family. 

Garda Appeal

Following the collision, Mrs Cave was brought to Sligo University Hospital.

A man in his fifties and a woman in her forties were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of their injuries which are believed to be non life-threatening. 

The road was closed for forensic examination, and the garda investigation is ongoing. 

Garda Grainne Doherty said: “Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

"Any road users or pedestrians who were on the N56 between 8.30am and 9am and have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.”
