Five men, aged between their late teens and early 20s, were arrested and later charged
Five men have been arrested after gardaí who responded to reports of a disturbance outside a Donegal Town premises were assaulted.
Gardaí who initially responded to the incident on Quay Street at around 2am on Sunday were assaulted when attempting to deal with the situation.
Additional garda units arrived at the scene to provide assistance. Gardaí used incapacitant spray as part of an escalated response to the public order incidents.
Five men, aged between their late teens and early 20s, were arrested and later charged. All five are due to appear before Donegal District Court November 6.

The gardaí assaulted during the incident remained on duty until 7am on Sunday. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Donegal Town garda station 074 9740 190.
