Popular Kerrykeel baker James (Jim) Mailley, who died in a road traffic incident close to his home, will be returned to his native Scotland.

Mr Mailley, who was aged 65, died in a single vehicle collision on Tuesday, October 29, at around 3.30pm at Shore Road, Kerrykeel.

It is understood that Mr Mailley, who hailed from Dumbarton, suffered a medical emergency.

He ran the Carlan Bakery and the Ramelton Country Market will not be held on Saturday as a mark of respect. Mr Mailley was a frequent seller at the market, where he was “known for his quick wit and culinary skills”.

His death is deeply regretted by his partner Mary Rose McVey, his extended family, neighbours and many friends.

A service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at The Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny on Saturday at 11am.

Mr Mailley’s remains will be repatriated to Scotland where a cremation will take place at a later date.
