Tasty Mac's in Falcarragh
A temporary closure order was served on a Falcarragh takeaway after flies were found in food.
An inspector noted that a fly was found within a container of raw burgers at Tasty Mac’s on Main Street, Falcarragh while there were flies in the food preparation area and insect proof screens were not provided.
A closure order was served on Sandip Singh, the Company Secretary of Sarup Catering Limited on October 16 and lifted again on October 22.
This was one of the orders reported by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) during the month of October.
An inspector noted that raw meet was found store don top of the pizza dough mixer, while there a large build up of old food and dirt was also found underneath all equipment within the kitchen area.
Dirty food contact equipment were found throughout the premises, these included dirty mixing bowls for pizza dough.
The potato peeler was “encrusted with layers of dirt” as were dry ingredients containers, while a large tray of cooling rice was found on top of the potato peeling machine.
The interiors of both microwaves were not clean with the inspector remarking on a build up of “dirt and old food” with the wash hand basins in the kitchen and staff toilet said to be “ingrained with dirt”.
Sinks for washing food equipment were dirty and the inspector also mentioned that none of the food handling staff were wearing protective clothing or head covering.
“There was no implementation of a food safety management system,” a report said.
“There was no monitoring of critical control points as stated within the Safe Catering Guide, including fridge and freezer temperatures, cooking, cooling and reheating since April 13, 2023.

“There was no stock control system or data labelling for high risk food prepared and stored on the premises.
