Independent Councillor Martin Scanlon
Fears have been expressed that a section of the Ballybofey-Glenties road could subside.
Councillor Martin Scanlon has said that a part of the R252 road at Letterbrick, Cloghan is a health and safety issue.
Councillor Scanlon told the latest meeting of the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District that a site meeting is necessary at the location.
“The road seems to be giving way,” the Glenfin-based Independent said.
“It doesn’t look too bad from the road, but it’s different from below it. People are afraid that the road is going to subside.”
Councillor Scanlon said the verge at the road side was previously filled in, but remains an issue.
“I would be afraid of someone going in there and it’s quite near to the river,” Councillor Scanlon said, adding that road may “need to be moved”.

Roads engineer Adrian McCool said the Council is in the process of doing up a drainage programme and will look at the matter.
Councillor Scanlon informed the Council official that landowners in the area would be happy to enable the road be moved in order that the issue be adequately addressed.
