Funeral to take place on Friday of third victim of Liscooley crash

A pensioner who died as a result of a road traffic collision in Donegal last Friday night will be laid to rest later this week.

Samuel Hunter, late of Murlog Lifford and formerly of Cranford, Milford, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, November 26.

Mr Hunter, who was in his 70s, passed away in Letterkenny University Hospital having been involved in a fatal collision on the N15 road at Liscooley around 10pm on Friday. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries and subsequently passed away. 

He is the third person to die as a result of the collision following the passing of friends Ryan Glenn and Gordy Galbraith, who both hailed from the Castlederg area.

A funeral service for Mr Hunter will take place in Ballindrait Presbyterian Church on Friday at 1pm and the deceased will be buried in Milford Presbyterian Church graveyard.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his wife Dolores, sisters Ila & Evelyn, sisters and brothers in law, nephews, nieces, cousins and wider family circle.

Gardai have renewed their appeal for information on the crash with a woman, aged in her 70s, also seriously injured. 

A second woman, aged in her 30s, was treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

“Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí,” Garda Sergeant Charlene Anderson said.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on (074) 916 7100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

Father-of-two Gordy Galbraith, who was in his 30s, will be laid to rest on Thursday afternoon in Castlederg Cemetery following a Service of Thanksgiving at the family home at Hospital Road, Castlederg at 1pm.

Ryan Glenn, a father-of-one, will also be buried at Castlederg Cemetery on Friday after a Service of Thanksgiving at Lynchs Funeral Home at 1pm.
