Over €10,000 has been raised for the oncology ward at Letterkenny University Hospital by the family and friends of a beloved mother-of-two from Kilcar.

Aisling Lyttle, who lived in Stranorlar, died while in LUH in January, 2024.

A huge crowd of her family - including husband David, son Darragh and daughter Amy, and her mother Margaret - attended the Remembrance Run, hosted by Finn Valley AC, in November.

A donation from that event was given to the fundraiser while those close to Aisling also carried out their own sponsorship venture around the event.

In all, €10,535 was collected and will soon be presented to the oncology ward.

“We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us during the Finn Valley Memorial Walk in November, where we honoured our dear Aisling,” the Lyttle and McShane families said.

“To those who travelled near and far, donated generously, and sent us kind wishes, we are truly grateful. Your incredible support has meant the world to us during this time.

“A special thank you to everyone at the Finn Valley Athletic Club for generously donating back to our fundraiser from the event proceeds.

“We have been in discussions with the oncology ward in LUH and will update you soon on how these funds will be used to make a meaningful impact.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us keep Aisling’s memory alive and for being part of this special tribute.”
