Conditional planning permission has been given to the construction of 36 new houses in Milford.

Developer PJD Construction London Ltd has been given the green light for the development at Lough Fern Heights, Forquar, Milford.

The proposed development was the subject of objections with a large amount of current residents among those signing a submission.

One of the objections contains 26 signatures with concerned residents saying that the proposed works are “unsustainable and unattainable”.

Permission was sought for the construction of 36 residential units, set out in a series of semi-detached two-storey town houses and two terraces blocks each containing six dwellings.

The application provided for a new spine road access with footpaths and amenity area.

An objection raised concerns about parking as well as highlighting concerns over environmental impacts and residential amenities.

With an approximate addition of 72 cars to drive to the site daily, residents say that: “This will have a detrimental and significant negative impact to the current residents with real concerns about traffic hazards”. They say that the road is “not fit for purpose for this level of traffic”.

The said that the proposer completed 19 houses in the area, “which resulted in major issues for the residents with noise pollution of heavy machinery operating for almost 18 months and the serious safety concern for children and residents with site and construction vehicles”.
