Fr John Joe Duffy has offered his prayers to the two young men killed in a road traffic accident in Gortahork on Friday night, and their two friends who remain in hospital

The two men are teenager Shaun McClafferty and Jamie Diver, who was in his 20s. Both were pronounced dead at the scene at Baltoney, Gortahork.

The male front seat passenger, aged in his 20s and the male rear seat passenger, aged in his teens, were removed from the scene to hospital and both remain in a serious condition.

The Creeslough curate has expressed his sympathies to the families involved.

“My sympathies to the families of the two young men who tragically lost their lives in Gortahork, my prayers are for them, their two young men who died and for the two young men who are in hospital,” Fr Duffy posted.

“Keeping these two young men, their families and the doctors and medical staff who work with them in my prayers. I am keeping in prayer those who first responded to the tragedy and all the emergency service personnel and those in Letterkenny and Beaumont hospitals in prayer.

“The news of the tragedy has saddened all our hearts, and our hearts, thoughts and prayers are for those involved. May God give eternal rest and peace to the two young men who died, healing and strength to the young men injured, comfort and consolation to the family, friends and loved ones of all impacted by this tragedy.”
