Barnesmore wildfire in the early hours of Monday
By 3am on Monday morning, the fire which is raging on the mountainside at Barnesmore had intensified and spread. A large ring of fire was clearly visible, adding to the huge challenge faced by fire crews battling to bring the blaze under control.
Earlier, a Coast Guard helicopter had added to the efforts, dropping water from above.

There are fears for the welfare of livestock and wildlife as the fire continues to spread, feeding off the dry gorse and heather and fanned by the easterly breeze.
