Nominations open for the annual ‘Donegal Garda Youth Awards’

The nominations for the annual ‘Donegal Garda Youth Awards’ are now open. 

An Garda Síochána in Donegal in partnership with Supermac’s and the Abbey Hotel want to recognise the good work that is being done by young people in every community in the county. People are being asked to nominate a young person between the ages of 13 to 21 years that they know who is committed to making a difference in their community.

There are four separate categories for young people;  

Individual Award- making a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live.

Group Award - two or more young people making a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live.

Special Achievement Award - overcome difficult circumstances, defied all the odds, and whose commitment deserves recognition. 

Community Safety Award - through a crime prevention or safety initiative/innovation, have made their community a safer place to live. 

You can get the nomination forms from any Garda Station. A copy of the form can also be requested by emailing DG.GardaYouthAwards@Garda.ie or it may be downloaded from the Garda website at www.garda.ie . The application form is also available in Irish. 

When the form is completed, send it via email to DG.GardaYouthAwards@Garda.ie or by post addressed to Garda Gráinne Doherty, Letterkenny Garda Station, Newline Road, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, F92 PC03. 

Nominations will close at 12pm on Wednesday, July 2 for the winners to be considered. The award ceremony will take place later this year.
