Donegal father of two killed in Galway collision named

The Donegal man killed in a road traffic collision in Galway city on Sunday has been named.

Aidan McNern from Dunkineely, who was in his 40s, lost his life in a three-car collision at Clareview Park in Ballybane before 3pm on Sunday.

He was the driver of one of the cars involved and died after being brought to University Hospital Galway.

The funeral of Mr McNern, a father of two from Castleview, Dunkineely and Galway, is to take place on Friday at the Church of St Joseph and Conal in  Bruckless at 12 noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who were in Clareview Park between 2:30pm and 3pm and may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
