St Columba’s Church was built in 1899 as a second church in the parish of Kincasslagh

A west Donegal church has been closed today following an infestation of honeybees.

St Columba’s Church in Lackenagh, Burtonport, commonly known as Acres Church, aim to get the issue sorted this evening and have told parishoners to check whether Mass will be on tomorrow, Thursday.

"Acres Chapel has been locked due to an infestation of honeybees," Kincasslagh Parish posted on social media. "Trying to get someone to remove them from the apse ceiling. Check here before Mass tomorrow."

St Columba’s Church was built in 1899 as a second church in the parish of Kincasslagh and has served the people since. Known as Acres Church, taking its name from a nearby townland where St Columba’s School is built
