An Garda Síochána Donegal have issued a gorse fire warning as temperatures are set to rise to 29 degrees in Donegal today.

A number of gorse fires have occurred already this year and gardaí are urging landowners and members of the public not to engage in activities that could cause wildfires.

Gardaí are reminding people that under the Wildlife Acts, 1976 and 2000, it is an offence to cut, grub, burn or destroy any vegetation growing on land not then cultivated between March 1 and August 31.
