Woman (60s) suffers 'life-threatening injuries' in Letterkenny crash

A woman in her 60s is fighting for her life following a road traffic collision in Letterkenny.

The woman was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in a two-car collision at Listillion at around 5.05pm.

The woman is being treated for what have been described as “life-threatening injuries” at Letterkenny University Hospital.

The collision occurred on the N13 road, the main Letterkenny-Ballybofey road.

The road will remain closed overnight for a technical examination to be conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

No other injuries were reported.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

A spokesperson told Donegal Live: “Any persons who were on the N13 at Listillion between 4:50pm and 5:15pm and who may have witnessed the incident should contact investigating Gardaí.

“Any road users who were travelling in this vicinity at the time, and who may have camera footage including dash cam, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Gardaí can be contacted at Letterkenny Garda Station on 074 9167100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

Gardai say that their investigations are “ongoing”.

Traffic travelling from Letterkenny are directed to turn right at the bottom of Lurgybrack and follow diversion signs to rejoin the N13 at Listillion.

Traffic travelling towards Letterkenny are directed to turn right at the Convoy Road Junction at Listillion and follow diversion signage to rejoin the N13 on the Dual Carriageway.
