Gorgeous Jackie steals the show at the Ballintra Races in Murvagh

Gracious and humble, Jackie Doherty was deeply moved by the beautiful comments she received from people at the Ballintra Races where she was crowned Best Dressed Lady. 

The competition was sponsored by Get That Trend in Donegal Town with flowers by Le Fleur in Ballyshannon.

With Storm Floris still making its presence felt with a steady warm breeze at Murvagh on bank holiday Monday afternoon, three ladies braved the conditions to dress to impress for race day. Originally from Raphoe, Jackie travelled from Letterkenny for the occasion. She  was joined in the presentation area by fellow contestants Amanda Crawford from Donegal Town, and Ger Kee from Laghey.

All three ladies came in for much praise for their beautiful ensembles, but it was Jackie who stole the show, with the ladies from Get That Trend selecting her as winner. 

Jackie wore a royal blue v-neck dress with sheer sleeves, diamante waistband and full skirt, as well as a royal blue fascinator and white heels, with blue drop earrings with a diamante trim completing the look. 

Surprisingly, this was Jackie’s first time to take part in this type of competition, and she was overcome with emotion at the positive response she received from fellow racegoers. 

Jackie told MC Kevin Furey: “I have never done anything like this before in my life. 

“Even before I entered, I felt like I had won it in my heart because I had people coming up to me to admire my outfit, even children.”

Jackie received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Le Fleur, as well as a goodie bag and voucher from Get That Trend.

It was certainly a memorable trip through the Gap for the Raphoe native, who told Donegal Live: “I am shaking, I can’t believe it.”
