Taidhg has decided to fundraise for the RNLI as 'they are a core part of my local community and have a rich and proud history on the island'
A teenager is currently walking from Arranmore to Dublin to raise money for the RNLI.
Eighteen-year-old Taidhg Trocme's journey got underway on Tuesday and he is hoping to arrive in Dun Laoghaire on Sunday week and you can donate on Just Giving Taidhg's walk for RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
"Hi, my name is Taidhg Trocme and I'm 18 years old," the charity inscription reads. "From the 5th of August I will be walking 390km solo from my local lifeboat station on Arranmore Island in Donegal, to Dun Laoghaire lifeboat station in Dublin. I will be carrying all the equipment I need for the two week trip and hope to arrive (if all goes well) on the 17th of August.

"I decided to use this opportunity to fundraise for the RNLI as they are a core part of my local community and have a rich and proud history on the island. By leading search and rescue operations, doing medical evacuations and saving lives in all conditions, the lifeboat team (made up almost entirely of volunteers) show their courage and selflessness on an ongoing basis. Living surrounded by water, it's plain to see the enormous impact the RNLI has on the lives and safety of all those around the Irish and UK coasts.
"The RNLI receives no funding from governments and relies solely on donations to carry out it's work, making fundraising all the more important."
