Charles Ward said the party has a responsibility to continue the fight for homeowners through political and legislative channels
The 100% Redress Party has said it will “continue the fight for homeowners” after the Mica Action Group (Mag) announced it is winding up operations after more than a decade of campaigning for families affected by defective concrete blocks.
The party, which had TD Charles Ward elected in November’s general election and has four representatives on Donegal County Council, said it acknowledged the decision of the grassroots campaign group to step down from its active role in advocating for victims of the defective concrete blocks crisis.
“We wish to publicly recognise and thank MAG for their extraordinary commitment, dedication, and tireless efforts on behalf of homeowners across Donegal and beyond,” the party said in a statement.
“Since the emergence of the defective blocks crisis, homeowners have faced immense financial, emotional, and practical challenges. Families have been forced to leave their homes, endure unsafe living conditions, and navigate a complex and often slow-moving remediation process.

“Throughout this ordeal, MAG has been a constant and unwavering voice, supporting homeowners, providing guidance, and advocating for justice at every stage. Their work has been instrumental in establishing the current remediation scheme, ensuring that those affected had access to some form of redress. Without the pressure, organisation, and advocacy led by homeowners themselves, there would be no scheme in place today.”
The party said it remains “fully committed to securing full accountability, transparency, and practical solutions that deliver results on the ground. We will continue to advocate tirelessly for affected homeowners, challenging government inaction where necessary and ensuring that the remediation scheme works for everyone”.
“We thank MAG once again for their dedication and hard work. Their contribution has been invaluable, and we will honour their legacy by continuing to fight for justice every step of the way.”
Cllr Tomas Sean Devine, Chairperson of the Donegal County Council’s defective blocks committee, said: “All members of MAG who gave up their time to fight for victims of this crisis should be extremely proud of their achievements. They have shown the power of grassroots activism and have laid the foundation for meaningful change. While MAG steps back, the fight is far from over. The 100% Redress Party will continue to carry the baton, ensuring homeowners’ voices are heard, their concerns addressed, and that no one is left behind.”
Charles Ward TD added: “The tireless efforts of MAG have been crucial in driving accountability and support for homeowners. Their dedication has made a real difference, and it is now our responsibility to continue this fight
through political and legislative channels. Homeowners who have suffered so much deserve justice, and we remain committed to ensuring that they finally receive it.”
