The death has been announced of Paris-based Kilcar businessman Conall Carr.

For many years, Conall headed up Carr’s on Rue du Mont-Thabor in the heart of Paris.

The business operated from 1989 until its closing night in July, 2015 with a previous version, Carr’s restaurant, existing for four years on Rue Thérèse.

Conall Carter was born in 1940 and grew up on Main Street, Kilcar, with the family running a grocery and hardware shop and pub in the south west Donegal village.

He spent 17 years working for Bord Failte after being educated at Cathal Brugha Street College of Catering in Dublin and UCD.

In the mid-80s, Conall moved to Paris after selling a house in Dublin and cashing in on a Bord Failte pension.

Conall passed away on Tuesday and his funeral will take place in Kilcar on Saturday.
