The Shona Project has been announced as one of ten recipients of the 2025 Vhi Health & Wellbeing Fund, an initiative in partnership with the Irish Youth Foundation (IYF) that supports youth and non-profit organisations across Ireland.

This year’s fund has awarded €85,000 in grants to organisations that help build resilience and support young people in managing anxiety through early intervention and prevention. More than 2,000 young people nationwide are set to benefit directly from the 2025 grants.

Since its launch in 2020, the Vhi Health & Wellbeing Fund has provided €444,000 in funding to 54 organisations, reaching over 37,000 young people across the country. The initiative continues to make a lasting impact, especially among young people facing challenges such as addiction, disability, homelessness, trauma, and international protection.

In Donegal, The Shona Project was among this year’s successful applicants. Founded with a mission to educate, empower and inspire girls across Ireland, the organisation works to help young women become confident, resilient, and fulfilled contributors to society.

The Vhi funding will enable The Shona Project team to deliver school workshops across 16 DÉIS secondary schools in Donegal, supporting students in rural areas who often face limited access to wellbeing initiatives due to isolation and funding constraints.
