Donegal Women’s Centre is proud to announce the official opening of The Haven Building.

It's a dedicated new space in Letterkenny which now houses the Donegal Community Counselling rooms and the Centre’s Creative Workshop spaces, a vital expansion of services supporting women’s mental health, trauma recovery, and emotional wellbeing across Donegal.

The Haven Building represents a major milestone for the organisation, offering a safe, welcoming, and confidential environment for women seeking Community Counselling, Domestic Abuse Trauma Counselling, and Psychotherapy services.

For nearly four decades, Donegal Women’s Centre has been a lifeline for women of all ages and backgrounds, providing professional, compassionate care to those affected by trauma, anxiety, depression, and domestic abuse. The new facility allows the Centre to meet the increasing demand for these essential services in the county.

“Having this dedicated space means we can provide a calm, healing environment where women feel truly safe to talk and begin their journey of recovery,” said Mary Herlihy, Manager of Donegal Women’s Centre. “The Haven Building is exactly what its name suggests, a haven for women who need to be heard, supported, and empowered. It’s a space built on hope, compassion, and community.”

One of the Centre’s counsellors added, “Every day, we witness women rediscover their strength. The Haven allows us to do this work in an environment that reflects the care and respect each woman deserves.”

A client who benefited from the service shared, “Coming here changed my life. For the first time, I felt safe enough to talk. The counsellors gave me back my confidence and reminded me that I mattered.”

The Haven Building not only benefits the women who use the service but also provides a dedicated base for Donegal Women’s Centre’s team of professional counsellors, psychotherapists, and creative facilitators, whose invaluable work continues to make a real difference in the lives of countless women and families.

As a registered charity, Donegal Women’s Centre relies on community support, corporate donations, and local fundraising events to continue providing these life changing services.

Every contribution helps ensure that counselling and trauma recovery support remain available to women across Donegal, regardless of their circumstances.

Those wishing to support The Haven Building or the services provided by Donegal Women’s Centre can visit the Donegal Women's Centre website for more information or to make a donation.
