More than 5,000 premises in south Donegal are without electricity as the area is hit by a significant power cut.

Power went out at around 2.30pm in an area which takes in Donegal Town and a wide surrounding area.

According to ESB Networks, supply is expected to be restored to the 5,371 affected customers by 3.30pm.

Customers are reminded to never touch fallen wires, and to report power outages or damage to the network infrastructure by calling ESB Networks on 1800 372 999.
