A St Johnston toddler battling for his life may have to be transferred to a hospital in England, his family have said.

Little Daibhin Curran could have to receive a higher level of care at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.

Over €57,000 has been raised in a fundraiser for the 21-month old, who is receiving around the clock care in Crumlin Hospital. You can help by donating here.

“He is still very ill,” his aunt, Lisa Crawford, said. “There is a strong possibility that he may be transferred to Freeman Hospital Newcastle for a higher level of care when the time is right.

“In the meantime please keep Daibhin and all his family in your prayers, We are forever grateful.”

As his heart and lungs are not able to function on their own right now, Daibhin is being supported by an ecmo machine, a form of life support used in critical situations. This is the highest level of life support care he can receive in Ireland.
