The Health Service Executive’s Building and Equipment Capital Plan for 2026 will bring an investment of €35,981,572 to Donegal.

The Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD, has today approved the €1.3 billion allocation nationally for the development and enhancement of healthcare infrastructure, according to a Fine Gael Senator.

Senator Nikki Bradley said: “Today’s announcement, including a 20 million euro investment for the Replacement and Extension of a Community Nursing Unit (110 beds) and Medical Rehab centre in Letterkenny, is welcome news that will help bring healthcare services closer to home and better meet the needs of patients and families in our community.

"The investments set out in the 2026 HSE Capital plan show our commitment to improving Donegal’s health service facilities and ensuring better access to care for our patients. Investing in our health service is important as our population grows, with many people living longer, healthier lives.

“I am pleased to see the cross-party advocacy by Donegal’s TD’s and Senators has been reflected in the funding plan for Donegal. Securing funding for a Letterkenny Surgical Hub will transform healthcare access across the County and improve outcomes immensely."

Commenting on the publication of the HSE Capital Plan, Minister Carroll MacNeill said: “I’m pleased to approve the publication of the HSE Capital Plan for 2026. By increasing capacity and developing the necessary infrastructure we will enable greater provision of care in our hospitals and in our communities, we are advancing the Sláintecare vision to provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time.”
