An Garda Siochana offer GAA supporters advice ahead of Ballyshannon fixture

Ballyshannon will play host to the clash of Donegal and Galway on Sunday

An Garda Síochána has offered advice to supporters attending the National Football League Division 1 clash in Ballyshannon on Sunday.

Donegal take on Galway at Fr Tierney Park, with a 1:15pm throw-in and gardaí have given pointers on routes and parking.

"Donegal supporters travelling to Ballyshannon should travel into town and are asked to use one of the many the town car parks," An Garda Siochana posted.

"There will be on-street parking as well, where the usual rules of the road apply. An Garda Síochána will be placing traffic cones in areas where on-street parking is not permitted. Please note it is only a 500m walk to Fr. Tierney Park from the Market Yard and Saimer Court Car Parks using the port access steps or path.

"Also note that there is substantial car parking available at the Northwest Furniture retail park, only a seven-minute walk to the grounds.

"Traffic coming from Galway via Sligo should travel the Bundoran and Ballyshannon bypass and turn off for Ballyshannon, which brings you in the direction of the pitch. Head for East Port and look for parking along East Port and on the Mart Road.

"Alternatively, travel to Ballyshannon via Finner and park at the Northwest Interiors car park. Either way is a quick exit onto the bypass for home.

"There is limited parking at the GAA grounds at the Rock, which will be primarily for car pass holders, after which any remaining spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. There is car parking for official Car Pass holders and disabled blue badge holders in a car park immediately adjacent to the ground.

"Please note there will be a temporary one-way system in operation to access the Rock area for the duration of the event. Please follow signage and directions given by stewards and Gardai. We wish all our patrons a safe journey."
