Air Ambulances are specially equipped helicopters which serve as intensive care units for transporting critically ill or injured patients
A letter will be written to the Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, requesting that Donegal receive an Air Ambulance.
Independent Councillor Michael McClafferty made the request at the Donegal County Council March Plenary Meeting, which Councillor Micheal Boyle seconded.
The councillors highlighted the need for specially equipped helicopters to serve as intensive care units for transporting critically ill or injured patients.
Cllr McClafferty highlighted, “Now is the right time, as the government recently purchased four. These work very well across the UK; there is no reason why we cannot pilot one in Donegal. It will get to any patient in Donegal in a matter of minutes.”
The councillors echoed Senator Manus Boyle’s calls, who requested that one of the helicopters be based at Finner Camp.
