Sunday, April 26, marks the 40th anniversary of the fire that tore through the O’Donnell family home at 65 Ard O’Donnell in Letterkenny, claiming the lives of four children, Sharon (16), Joanne (12), Adrian (4), and Kevin (18 months) along with their babysitter, Noreen O’Donnell.

The tragedy left the O’Donnell family, parents Joe and Angela, and their surviving children Philip, Patrick and Joseph, as well as friends and the wider community, shocked and devastated.

To mark the anniversary, a committee of friends have organised a remembrance event, including a musical tribute at St Eunan’s Cathedral on Sunday, 26 April. The event will feature guest artists including Margo O’Donnell, Shunie Crampsey, Sinead & Alex Black, local choirs and performances from local artists, family members, and friends.

The O’Donnell family also invites members of the community to attend a commemorative Mass, celebrated by Fr John Joe Duffy, at St Eunan’s Cathedral on Saturday, April 25, at 4pm.
