'We are aware of highlighted fake document which is circulating on social media and messaging apps,' Donegal gardaí posted
An Garda Síochána in Donegal have issued a warning over a fake document doing the rounds in their name.
Donegal gardaí have appealed to all members of the public to independently verify any information that you are reading on social media and/or messaging apps.
"We are aware of highlighted fake document which is circulating on social media and messaging apps," they posted. "This is not a genuine document. An Garda Síochána has regularly highlighted the rise in the level of misinformation, disinformation and fake news which is typically amplified by online accounts in order to spread fear and concern amongst our communities."
