The Church of Ireland in Leitirmacaward
Classical music is back! After two years of enforced silence due to Covid, music is springing into life again all over the country and of course in Leitirmacaward too.
The Church of Ireland is hosting a classical concert by the Donegal Chamber Orchestra at 5pm on Saturday, June 4 and it promises to be an occasion to suit all tastes.
"We are proud and happy that we can continue our effort to bring high-quality classical music to Leitirmacaward and host again the Donegal Chamber Orchestra conducted by Victor Yélamo for the fourth concert in the historic picturesque Church of Ireland in Leitirmacaward, says spokesperson, Carolyn Robinson.
She notes: "The brilliant acoustic in this church makes every music performance an unforgettable event. With music from Handel, Dvořák, Scriabin, Holst, and other composers the orchestra, with string players of all ages will enchant and carry you to the magical world of classical music."
The Donegal Chamber Orchestra is one of the ensemble groups within the Donegal Music Education Partnership. Founded in 2006 by Hungarian violinist Orsolya Szabo-Yélamo and Spanish cellist, Victor Yélamo it has become one of the most cherished outlets for musicians in this county.
You can meet the founders afterward, together with the rest of the musicians in Elliott's lounge where light refreshments will be served. Admission to the concert is €12 and is payable at the door.
