One o f the paths that take you on to Fintra beach just outside Killybegs
Summer is just around the corner and one of Donegal's favourite beaches, Fintra is all set for visitors, according to a local independent councillor, Niamh Kennedy.
Fintra is a beautiful sandy beach just a couple of kilometers outside the fishing port of Killybegs. It is approached by a steep road down to it which offers stunning views of both the beach and Donegal Bay as far as Benbulben mountain in County Sligo.
According to Cllr Kennedy, the council has once again this year agreed with the landowner to lease a parking area to facilitate beach users, campers.
"This agreement is from June 1 to September 30. The council-owned car park will be resurfaced shortly and access will be via the Clocktower once again.
"The height restriction barrier is in place so cars including disabled access can utilise this car park and it's close to beach wheelchair and lifeguards.
"The larger campers should only access via the Clocktower. The boardwalk will be restricted this year as works are ongoing.
The car park will be to the right field this year."
She called on visitors to respect the beach, take their litter home, and no dogs in Blue Flag area during lifeguard times.
"Clean up after your dogs and don't park in the disabled parking bays.
Hope you all have a fantastic beach experience this summer," she added.
