Students who sat their Junior Certificate will finally receive their results this week.
Some 68,000 students nationwide - with 2,382 from Donegal - sat the state examination in June and have had to endure a long wait since, which will come to an end with results released this Wednesday afternoon.
“Schools will receive the results on Wednesday morning and will be in a position to issue them. Students will be given access to a student portal to get their results online from 16:00 on November 23. Schools will be giving out the PIN numbers,’ a spokesperson for the State Examinations Commission told DonegalLive today.
In the past, exam results would usually be issued in September, but this year's results have been delayed significantly. This is a result of - according to the State Examination Commission - a lack of examiners to correct the exams and the prioritisation of the Leaving Certificate results, which were released on September 2.
The coronoavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 Junior Certificate and students were in turn provided with predicted grades, with the last conventional sitting - before this year - taking place in June 2019.
