Irish Water working to restore the water supply in Falcarragh

It is hoped water supplies will be back to normal by 1pm today

Irish Water and Donegal County Council are working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses in Falcarragh following an electrical issue at the Ardsbeg Water Treatment Plant. As a result, water supply to Falcarragh and surrounding areas is impacted.

Crews are on the ground working to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers.

In the meantime, an alternative water supply is available from Falcarragh Community Hospital.

It is anticipated that repairs will be completed by approximately 1pm today Friday, December 23. Customers are reminded to use their own potable water containers when taking water from the alternative water supply tap.

Operations Lead for Irish Water, Seamus O’Brien, said they understand the inconvenience this issue is causing and are working to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.

"It is expected that the works will be completed by approximately 1pm after which it will take a number of hours for the network to refill and for normal supply to return to all customers.

“We are also asking the public to do what they can to conserve water during this time by turning off taps and checking for leaks in outside taps or unoccupied premises.

"If anyone notices a leak in the public network they should report it to Irish Water via www.water.ie or by calling 1800 278 278.”

Localised updates about water supply issues are available on www.water.ie or via Twitter @IWCare. The Irish Water Customer Care Team is also available to help 24/7 on 1800 278 278.
