Sad passing of Very Reverend Dan O’Doherty
The death has taken place today, Friday, December 23 at St Eunan’s Nursing Home, Letterkenny, of Very Reverend Dan O’Doherty, Ballyheerin, Fanad, retired Parish Priest of Dunfanaghy.
Born on August 28, 1934, Fr O'Doherty was ordained to the priesthood on June 18, 1961 in St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, Co Kildare.
He received his primary education in Ballyheerin National School, Fanad and his secondary education in St Eunan’s College, Letterkenny. He studied for the priesthood at St Patrick’s College Maynooth
Ministry
Fr O’Doherty, served in Ballybofey, Rathmullan, Letterkenny, Arranmore, Killybegs, Fintown, Milford, Kilclooney, Burtonport and Dunfanghy (PE).
Funeral arrangements:
His remains are reposing at his late residence. Requiem Mass on Monday, December 26 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ballyheerin at 12 noon with burial afterwards in Massmount Cemetery.
Donations in lieu of flowers to St Eunan’s Nursing Home care of any family member.
House private on Christmas Day and on the morning of the funeral.
Deeply regretted by his brother Michael, his sisters Anne Deeney, Rathmullan, Mary O Donnell, Ballyheerin and Sr Eileen O Doherty Ballyheerin. Predeceased by his brothers James and John. Sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Mary and Bridie, nieces and nephews and family circle.
