Defendant remanded for alleged theft offences in Ballyshannon and Donegal Town
A man has been remanded at a special sitting of Ballyshannon District Court after he was accused of three theft offences in South Donegal.
Kryzsztof Siergiej, 39, of No Fixed Abode, but having previous addresses in Donegal Town and Bundoran, appeared in court before Judge Ciaran Liddy.
He was accused of three theft offences between September 22 and September 26, 2026, in Ballyshannon and Donegal Town, contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.
The defendant had been accused of stealing a Malfy Gin and a wrap to the value of €31.50 at Centra, Ballyshannon, and a Malfy Gin at the same location two days later, to the value of €25.
A third alleged theft offence was that on September 26, 2026, at Londis, Drumlonagher, Donegal Town, he did steal property, to wit, a bottle of wine to the value of €9, the property of Londis, Donegal Service Station.
The defendant also faced a fourth charge dating from October 20, 2026, at The Diamond, Donegal Town, contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994, as amended by Section 22 of the Intoxicated Liquor Act 2008.
Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the Court: “It is a remand in custody with a consent to bail. The State application is to remand until November 6.”
Judge Liddy adjourned the case until November 6, and ordered that Siergiej would appear at the sitting via videolink.
He told the defendant: “Mr Siergiej, you have not taken up for bail, so I am adjourning the matter. If you take up the bail in the meantime, you need to come to court on that date.”
