The motorist was speeding in a 60km/h zone while a pedestrian was walking nearby
The clear message from Donegal gardaí who were conducting speed checks in the Leck area of Letterkenny and on the dual carriageway is: "Speed kill. Slow down."
Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit detected a driver travelling at 83km/h in a 60km/h zone at Leck during Tuesday's speed checks.
Sharing an image from the speed gun on social media, a spokesperson said: "You may notice a pedestrian with a child on their arm crossing the road in the photo below.
"When you are in a built up area, be especially mindful of the speed at which you are travelling."
Another vehicle was detected at 151km/h on the dual carriageway between Letterkenny and Manorcunningham.
Both drivers, and all others who were detected exceeding the speed limits in both areas were issued with Fixed Charge Penalty Notices. They will have to pay a fine of €80 fine and will receive three penalty points.
